The end of drought

1 KINGS 18:41-45
The Elijah said to Ahab, ‘go and enjoy a good meal! For I hear a mighty rainstorm coming’
So Ahab prepared a feast, but Elijah climbed to the top of mount Carmel and got down on his knees, with his face between his knees and said to his servant, ‘go and look out toward the sea’. He did but returned to Elijah and told him, ‘I don’t see anything. Then Elijah told him, ‘Go again and again and again seven (7) times!’
Finally, the seventh time, the servant told him, ‘I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.
Then Elijah shouted, ‘hurry to Ahab and tell him to get into his chariot and get down the mountains or he will be stopped by the rain!’
And sure enough, the sky was soon black with clouds, and a heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

Pastor Steven Furtick once wrote; my faith works when I listen before I look.

According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary; to listen is to hear what someone has said and UNDERSTAND that it is serious, important or TRUE. Understand what God says!

King Ahab, listened to the prophet of God and acted immediately, he didn’t look to the heavens and complain about the atmosphere not looking conducive for a rain but he listened first and acted according to instruction only to see Gods manifestation through the rain. That is faith!

Irrespective of situations around you, irrespective of how impossible a turnaround may seem, only listen to what God is saying and believe. Refuse to SEE the mightiness of that ugly circumstance. Believe! You can only do this by listening to Gods word!

You may have been praying time over time about that situation, been praying for healing, breakthroughs etc. today’s word is saying do it again and again and again until something happens. Prophet Elijah was on his knees and on the first report from the servant who said he saw nothing; Elijah remained in the same position on his knees and on the SEVENTH report, there was an answer. Press on!

Only faith can make a small beginning turn mighty! Though the thickness of the cloud was the size of a man’s hand at first but in a short while, the thickness spread to cover the whole atmosphere. Oh! He is the God of all flesh, is anything too hard for our God to do?
When God gets involved, in that situation, it takes him only but a short while to handle a problem that might have lasted days, month or perhaps years. Hallelujah! Time so short than you could imagine; Ahab hadn’t even gotten home and it started raining.

Remember! The word of God that says in Romans 10:17; ‘faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God’
….faith works when you listen before you look….

Oh Lord, we come to you today; praying for the gift of faith given by your spirit. We pray you help us to stand steadfast in your word amidst the trials of life. Help us oh lord to study thy word and pray constantly.
Send rain to every dry areas of our life and restore to us of the joy of our salvation. Send revival in our lands in Jesus name we pray. Amen
